Summer Days Camp uniquely benefits 10, 11 and 12 year olds.

An element of the SDC curriculum is the counselors and staffs’ model of positive behavior.  The child experiences this behavior through our three curriculum subjects: Art Smart, Kitchen Science and Fair Play.  During the child’s time building, playing or creatively working, he or she learns from the staff first-hand the power of redirection and benefit from inclusive play and use of appropriate language.  Our campers begin to emulate these skills.  This experience binds our children together creating the dynamic neighborhood of Summer Days Camp.

As SDC approaches its fifth year, the curriculum continues to mature with our vast number of returning and first year campers.  Many of our campers are ready to further their creative, intellectual and physical potential.  Here, they have the opportunity during the day to demonstrate science experiments, share baked goods made from scratch and Role Model appropriate play. This process of sharing and performing  helps develop leadership skills that they will take with them out into the world.

For children who demonstrate excellent leadership skills, our Leadership Training program offers a chance for a child to develop life-long skills in a safe environment.

The 3 levels, as outlined below, reflect your child’s achievements in these areas at Summer Days Camp. Periodic documentation will be sent home to with your child indicating his/her progress in our Leadership Training program.

Level 1- Have attended Summer Days Camp or demonstrated potential elsewhere.  At this level, the trainee is still considered a camper, and begins to execute small tasks that aid the counselors. Ages 9,10.

Level 2- Have attended Summer Days Camp and achieved Level 1.  Will work in the morning from 9-12 and from noon to 3 will be able to focus on their own projects.  Aids younger campers with executing ideas and plays along side and with younger campers. Pays 50% for camp.  Ages 10,11 and 12

Level 3- Have been a Level 2 CIT at Summer Days Camp.  Will have responsibilities from 9-3.  Does not pay for camp. Ages 12-13

A certificate and a letter of reference from Summer Days Camp, indicates that level 3 has been completed successfully. Once a child is 14, potential exists for a Counselor position.
